We all have passions, but sometimes shyness can prevent us
from sharing them with the world. I love seeing photos of minifigures in real
settings and always wanted to create my own. However, shyness was a barrier.
Recently, I took a small step in overcoming my shyness and started
photographing minifigures in a public place, a shopping mall on a quiet day. I
want to share my story and offer some advice on how you can do the same.
My Small Achievement:
I decided to take the first step by placing a minifigure in
my bag.
Step 1: Chose a Friendly Location: I started discreetly at a shopping
mall on a less busy day.
Step 2: Gained Confidence: As I became more comfortable, I explored the mall in
search of interesting settings for my photos. Plus, the fact that I was waiting
for someone gave me a purpose, which helped combat boredom.
Step 3: Ignoring the Fear of Being Judged: I reminded myself that most people
were busy with their own activities and problems and probably weren't paying
much attention to what I was doing. This helped me overcome the fear of being
judged.
Step 4: Shared My Achievement: I shared my experience on Instagram,
where I found a welcoming group of AFOLs (Adults Fan of Lego®) who shared my passion. I
received support and encouragement to keep going.
Tips for You:
If you also want to overcome shyness and start photographing
minifigures in public places, here are some tips that can help:
- Start
in a friendly and quiet location, like a shopping mall on a less busy day.
- Gradually
increase the complexity of the locations.
- Remember
that most people aren't concerned about what you're doing.
- Share
your photos with others in AFOL communities to get support.
Photographing minifigures in public places can be an exciting
and rewarding experience. Overcoming shyness is a gradual process, but with
practice, you can explore your passion and share it with the world. Remember
that the most important thing is to have fun and bring the wonderful world of Lego® to life.
